C'est la troisième adaptation (et la première parlante) à l'écran du roman de James Oliver Curwood. Les deux précédentes sont :

- God's country and the woman de Rollin S. Sturgeon (1916), avec William Duncan et Nell Shipman, sorti aux États-Unis le 24/04/1916,

- God's country and the law de Sidney Olcott (1921), avec Fred C. Jones et Gladys Leslie, sorti aux États-Unis le 19/07/1921.

Une troisième adaptation verra le jour :

- Terre divine (God's country) de Robert Emmett Tansey (1946), avec Robert Lowery, Helen Gilbert, William Farnum et Buster Keaton, sorti aux États-Unis le 15/03/1946, et en France le 14/09/1951.
